A sötét kappadóciai templomSötét templom története
The Dark Church's origins can be traced to the latter half of the 11th and early 12th centuries. A tiny window in the narthex provides it with very little illumination. Because of this, the dark church frescoes in the church appear to have highly vibrant hues. Jesus and the Scriptures are depicted in the church's St. Nicholas decorations. There are scenes from the Torah in the Dark Church, just as there are in the Elmali and Carikli churches. This church is home to paintings like "Deesis," "Annunciation," "Journey to Bethlehem," and "Birth" from the Dark Church.

The church's scene paintings are still in existence today. The grotesque, formerly the church's entrance, is not in use right now. The tunnels at the bottom lead to wooden stairs that lead to the top. The church's interior is decorated with domes and columns. Several significant events for Christianity are represented on the inner walls. There are scenes from the Torah as well as the Bible.
