The mosque's prayer service coexisted with the sound of church bells in Mustafapasa, also known as Sinasos, which was once home to Turks and Greeks. Old stone Greek homes with decoratively carved motifs are not to be missed. Some buildings still preserve the original paintings on the walls, and the town has the highest density of classical churches in the area.
During the population exchange agreed upon in the Treaty of Lausanne, the Byzantine Greeks left the settlement, and the incoming Turks took over their dwellings. Mănăstirea Keshlik, the Church of the Archangel, the Chapel of Saint Stephen, a large dining room, housing quarters, and a well of hallowed water are all part of this monastic complex, which is set in a lush green valley.
The monks and their visitors could shelter from danger in a chamber protected by two mill-stone doors, and a hidden tunnel and spy hole adjacent to this room would have permitted one of the monastic order's top members to surreptitiously listen in on their talks! The Church of the Archangel is one of the few cave churches still in use by the locals in the twentieth century.
Taskinpasa is named after the Turkish philosopher Tashun, who lectured in the now-demolished local madrasah (Madrasa or Islamic High School). Madrasă structure, as well as the neighboring mosque and graves, are among the district's outstanding specimens of Seljuk architecture. The classic village homes have stables on the bottom level to keep the upper rooms warm.
Sobessos, a recently found archaeological site that was once a prosperous Roman-Byzantine metropolis, is currently being excavated. We are all quite thrilled since nothing of this magnitude has ever been discovered in this area before. People have already found the ruins of a church, tombs, a bath, and Roman mosaics.
The Soganli Valley has ten churches with relatively well-preserved wall paintings dating from the 10th to the 13th century. The locally produced doll is the village's emblem, yet it was inspired by a terrible occurrence. When a local mother lost her kid, she constructed a rag doll to replace it because she couldn't deal emotionally.
Later, when their men were away in the mountains grazing their animals, the women of the town learned the technique of manufacturing these dolls. A Soganli doll is a must-have for every doll collection. You can have lunch at Soganli Valley, where you can try different Turkish dishes like Sac Tava.
